MORGANTOWN, Wv (93.7 The Fan) - New West Virginia football head coach Neal Brown was introduced Thursday in Morgantown and it seems he’s ready for the Backyard Brawl to begin again.

When asked by a reporter, “Have you learned to dislike Pitt yet?” Brown responded, “They don’t let you sign the contract until you dislike Pitt.”

Pitt and West Virginia renew the Backyard Brawl for four years beginning in 2022 at Heinz Field.

While Brown didn’t come out and say it, he did leave the possibly of the rivalry extending beyond 2025.

Brown said, “I think rivalries are important in college football I think that’s what makes it unique is those rivalries and those fan bases, the interaction those fan bases have. Obviously those are conversations that (West Virginia Athletic director) Shane (Lyons) and I will have.”

Pitt and West Virginia Saturday play for the first time since 2011 in the 105th edition of the Backyard Brawl Saturday, September 3, 2022.
