(93.7 The Fan) - The NFL playoffs are reportedly getting reworked to feature 14 teams and will go live in 2020.

Negotiations for the new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) for the NFL have already been underway.

Some of the changes discussed for the new CBA feature 17-game schedules and more teams becoming playoff-eligible.

It appears that the latter is close to manifesting, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

In the tweeted mini-report, Schefter goes on to explain that seven teams from each conference will now make the playoffs.

Each conference would also only get one bye, as well.

These changes are stated to go live for the 2020 season.

2020 will be the first year in a 14-team playoff picture.

The seven-team conference playoff group also comes with the concept of 17 regular season games and decreasing the amount of preseason games to three.

NFL playoff structure is about to be changed. Under the current CBA proposal, seven teams from each conference will make the playoffs, with only bye per conference, sources tell ESPN. It would go into effect this upcoming season. More coming on https://t.co/rDZaVFhcDQ.
