Pirates' Steve Blass To Make 'Special Announcement' Tuesday Morning

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Steve Blass, longtime Pirates broadcaster and hero of the 1971 World Series will make a "special announcement regarding the 2019 season" Tuesday morning.

2019 will be Blass' 60th season with the organization, spending the last 33 seasons as a color commentator.


Blass made his debut for the Pirates on May 10, 1964. He was drafted by the Bucs in 1960.

Blass threw two complete games during the 1971 World Series including the clinching game 7 against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Pirates will honor Blass with his own play/broadcaster bobblehead on September 28.
