PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) – There was a transfer that would have helped with Pitt’s three point shooting issues, but Rice 6’8” guard Trey Murphy committed to Virginia on Monday afternoon.

Murphy had Pitt as a finalists with Houston and Villanova as well.

Murphy is Rice’s all-time three-point shooter making 139 of 356 attempts in his career for a 39% average.  Murphy also led the Owls in scoring at 13.7 points per game and grabbed 5.5 rebounds a game this past season.  Murphy also shot 56% from two-point land.

Pitt was the only team in the ACC last year to shoot under 30% from three.
