Steelers' Donnie Shell To Enter Hall Of Fame

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Another Steeler is going to be enshrined in Canton.

Safety Donnie Shell, who played from 1974-1987 is the latest member of the Super Steelers to reach the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The four-time Super Bowl Champion was also a five-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro.

In 201 total games, Shell had 51 interceptions for 490 yards and two touchdowns as well as 19 fumble recoveries for 47 yards and two touchdowns.

Shell is the 10th player from the 1970s Steelers teams to join Canton along with Coach Chuck Noll and is the 26 member of the Steelers organization to enter the Hall of Fame.

Former Coach Bill Cowher was named to the Hall of Fame on Saturday.

"When you look back at your career and that was the one thing you didn't have, you hope someday you will earn it," said Shell. "This is the highlight of my career as I look back it. It was the only thing I hadn't achieved in my career. I became a starter. I was an All-Pro. We won four Super Bowls. We were champions. This was one of my goals.”
