TUSCALOOSA (93.7 The Fan) - The Alabama quarterback has reached a decision regarding his future, and the official announcement is scheduled for January 6.

Tua Tagovailoa has reached a decision about his football future.

He announced a teaser on Twitter that he will be unveiling that official decision on January 6.

I'll be making my decision on the 6th.. God bless and Roll Tide

— Tua. T ---- (@Tuaamann) January 2, 2020

The decision is between his staying in school at Alabama or making the jump to the NFL and declaring early for the 2020 NFL Draft.

The decision is particularly important because of a hip injury from an earlier game in the regular season versus Mississippi State.

A couple of Mississippi State defenders came down forcefully on Tua while he was scrambling, and it resulted in a hip dislocation.

Tagovailoa had surgery on the hip in November and received a positive prognosis on his eventual return to the game.

While Tagovailoa is still on the mend, there aren't any setbacks expected to his longer-term health or football career.

Tagovailoa was stated to be able to make a full recovery by orthopedic surgeons.

While the outlook is bright, the injury was enough for many coaches and NFL representatives to take note.

The injury threw Tagovailoa's decision and draft stock into flux; it made the choice trickier, as coaches, analysts, and NFL personnel had more uncertainty to deal with regarding his professional future.

Either way, it seems unlikely that Tagovailoa will be on the field for the 2020 season, whether it's for an NFL team who is willing to be patient with his recovery or the Alabama program.

Tagovailoa had a preinjury draft value of top five or at least top 10.

The injury caused a lot of question marks surrounding his draft position, though.

If it had become certain that Tagovailoa would drop into the second round or even into the 20s, then returning to school to finish recovering could eventually allow him to recoup millions if he sat out and just improved his health and entered the 2021 Draft.

All eyes are on January 6.

Either decision will heavily affect how the NFL Draft dominoes fall.
