Senator Pat Toomey On The MLB's Return

In this segment, Paul goes out to the hotline to talk with United States Senator, Pat Toomey. They take a look at some of the ways that Major League Baseball has been able to return this season and what it took to make that happen in Pennsylvania. Senator Toomey breaks down a conference call that he had with some league officials and some people inside the Pirates to see what protocols are being used by teams and the MLB. Paul and Toomey talk about the possibility of having fans attend games this season, and what it will take for that to happen later in the year. Senator Toomey feels that the size of stadiums will allow for health officials and local leaders to considering having fans attend games at some point this season, so long as the numbers stay down. Paul and Toomey agree that the return of baseball is a good sign in terms of where the country is with the COVID-19 virus because the sport appears to have found a way to return in the middle of a pandemic. Senator Toomey offers his thoughts on how the country can learn from the way the MLB is testing players, college sports returning, and why he believes we will see college athletics return this fall.
