Following the sudden loss of his son, Geno on December 18, Andrew Fillipponi has announced he is returning to the air for the first time since his family’s devastating loss.
After making the news public, Poni took some time the air to thank Pittsburgh and the doctors who cared for Geno and said he was taking some time off until he thought he was ready to return.
93.7 The Fan was devastated by the news of Geno’s passing and gave Andrew all the time he needed off-air.
If you know anything about Poni, it’s that he doesn’t hide anything from his listeners and considers them to be part of the family.
Geno was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome or as Andrew and his wife Amanda put it, “In layman’s terms the left side of his heart was extremely tiny.”
While we will continue to keep the memory of Geno William Fillipponi close to our heart, we are happy to welcome Andrew back on the air with his partner and friend Chris Mueller and producer and friend Kraig Riley.
We hope you will be there to support Andrew on his first day back, and also kindly ask that you consider donating to the Geno Fillipponi Memorial Scholarship, one that will be awarded to high school students who want to pursue a degree in marketing and/or communications.
A special thank you to Steelers offensive lineman Zach Banner’s foundation, the B3 Foundation for setting up the fund.
The PM Team is heard 2-6 p.m. weekdays on 93.7 The Fan and can be streamed on the Radio.com app.
