Pitt Football has just announced an extension with one of its biggest rivals.

With the return of the Backyard Brawl set to commence on September 1, Pitt and West Virginia added more dates that are set to begin in 2029.
“Passionate rivalry games like the Backyard Brawl make college football special,” Director of Athletics Heather Lyke said.
“The extension of this series is exciting to announce given our programs’ shared history and geography. It’s a rivalry that resonates throughout the region and across the country. That will certainly be on display when we renew ties this September at Heinz Field in front of a national television audience.”
The Backyard Brawl’s current home-and-home agreement is running from 2022 until 2025. It will now include a four-game set that will run from 2029 until 2032.
Here is a list of all Backyard Brawls that have been confirmed by the schools:
· September 1, 2022 at Pittsburgh
· September 16, 2023 at West Virginia
· September 14, 2024 at Pittsburgh
· September 13, 2025 at West Virginia
· September 8, 2029 at Pittsburgh
· September 7, 2030 at West Virginia
· September 6, 2031 at Pittsburgh
· September 11, 2032 at West Virginia
The Backyard Brawl will have a new feel to it, especially under the helm. While neither are the confirmed starters for both clubs heading into the 2022 season, Pitt QB Kedon Slovis transferred from USC, while Georgia QB J.T.
Daniels, is reportedly heading to Morgantown.
Pitt currently leads the Backyard Brawl series, 61-40-3.
