
PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) World renowned UPMC doctor, Dr. Freddie Fu has died at the age of 70.
The Hong Kong native came to Pittsburgh to attend the University of Pittsburgh’s Medical School in the 1970s before creating the well known sports medicine program.

Dr. Fu became known not just locally for his work on Pittsburgh athletes, but around the world for his work.
Repairing not just athletes, Dr. Fu also worked on ballet dancers and average Joes.
Dr. Fu was a leader and ground breaker for medicine in Pittsburgh, heading multiple developments including the Pittsburgh Marathon and the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in the South Side.
He will be known forever as a pioneer and leader in the field.
Former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen sent a tweet honoring Dr. Fu.
Sports in Pittsburgh wouldn’t be the same without Dr. Fu.
Dr. Fu is survived by his wife, Hilda, son, Gordon, and daughter Joyce.
