3 NFL Takeaways: Michael Thomas Might Be the Best Player in the NFL
Don't look now, but the New York Giants (the football ones) have won two consecutive games following a nine-game losing streak. While the Giants have long since been eliminated from the postseason, there will be quite a few teams with eyes on them in Week 17.
Most notably, the Dallas Cowboys will need the Giants to beat the Philadelphia Eagles to have a chance to win the NFC East. The Cowboys would also need to take care of business at home against the Washington Redskins. After Saquon Barkley ran for 189 yards and Daniel Jones threw for five touchdowns Sunday, the Giants playing spoiler to the Eagles doesn't seem impossible.
Of course, by defeating the Redskins 41-35 in overtime Sunday, the Giants played spoiler to their own chances of securing the No. 2 pick. They'll need a loss, along with wins from the Detroit Lions and Redskins in Week 17, to have any realistic chance to be in position to select Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, who is considered one of the best prospects to enter the NFL Draft (assuming he does enter the NFL Draft) in the last decade.
So, who says Pat Shurmur's Giants won't be playing meaningful football in Week 17?
