We’re down to one week left in the fantasy football regular season.
It looks like the 6-team playoff field in the the Audacy Pittsburgh league is just about set, though there is a 7th team that could force its way in if it takes care of business in Week 14. Let’s check out the results from Week 13 first.

HIGHLIGHTS

CBDD Clinches Playoff Spot: They were one of four teams heading into the week at 7-5 and trying to punch their ticket to the postseason. Mission accomplished. Cale Berger and Dorin Dickerson’s squad posted the biggest blowout of the week, a 118.44-60.12 victory.

They did it without Aaron Rodgers who was on a bye, but replacement Ben Roethlisberger had 19.34 points and WR’s Keenan Allen and Chris Godwin both scored just under or just over 20 points in the win. This team is hot at the right time, now winners of three in a row and well ahead of The PM Team in total points scored on the year, which is the tiebreaker in the standings. Because of that, CBDD is currently 4th in the standings, with an opportunity to jump to 3rd if Suba’s Sackers, 8-5 as well, loses to 6-7 Mean Machine this week.

The PM Team…Team Clinches Playoff Spot: It wasn’t one of their best performances of the year, but it was good enough to win 82.28-66.70, advance to 8-5 on the season and officially get into the postseason.

Justin Herbert showed up in a big way with 26.28 to lead all scorers, while Tony Pollard added 14.4. After ripping off 5 straight wins in the middle of the season, The PM Team has traded wins and loses the past four weeks. They currently sit in 5th and would have a first-round matchup with CBDD if the standings hold. Their final game is against 3-10 Zeise is King this week.

Mean Machine Hanging On By A Thread: The final playoff spot is the only one that hasn’t been clinched yet. Bishop Sycamore (Joe Starkey, Joe “Horse” Kapp, Andrew Brncic) lost to The Fan Morning Squad this week in a high-scoring battle 136.72-123.86, leaving them at 7-6 on the season. Enter in the Mean Machine, led by ad executives Ernie Massa, Brent Weiner and Cara Schultz, who took care of their business in beating The Marty Party 115.62-79.30, running their record up to 6-7.

So, if Mean Machine beats 8-5 Suba’s Sackers this week and Bishop Sycamore loses to 5-8 Beldoon & Falloooon, then we focus on total points scored. Sycamore has 93-point overall lead on the Machine, making the Machine’s chances of pulling this off highly unlikely. Not only would they have to win but they would have to outscore Bishop Sycamore by 94 points. They need a historical good day to make it happen.

Sunday Grinders Continue League-Worst Skid: Seven weeks into the season at 3-4, the Grinders still had playoff hopes and dreams. But with a blowout loss this week, their losing streak stretched to a league-high six games as they plummeted to the bottom of the standings at 3-10.

“Once we lost Derrick Henry there was no going back,” said co-manager and KDKA producer Greg Finley. “He was an absolute stud and once we lost him, there was no replacing him. Injuries piled up and our top players (Julio Jones, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Odell Beckham) underperformed most of the season.
Very disappointing.”
