One of the great players in the NFL right now was counted upon to win a matchup for one team in the Audacy Pittsburgh Fantasy Football League this week…and failed. It would have been a pretty big shake-up to the season standings as well. Let’s go over some highlights from Week 8…

HIGHLIGHTS

Patrick Maho-no!: It was a big week for two-thirds of the Cook & Joe Show (Joe Starkey, Joe “Horse” Kapp) along with sales assistant Andrew Brncic. Their Bishop Sycamore team was rolling. A win and they’re two games over .500, just a game behind first place.

It all came down to arguably one of the best players in the NFL right now…or supposed to be at least…Patrick Mahomes. They were down by 24 points heading into his Monday night matchup against the Giants. Surely, he can do that, right? Well, maybe 2018 Mahomes. Or 2019 Mahomes. Or 2020. Apparently, not 2021’s Mahomes. Just one touchdown with an interception and a fumble led to only 15 points and a loss for Bishop Sycamore. They fall back to .500 (4-4) on the year and sit smack dab in the middle of the league standings.

PM Team Stays Red Hot: The PM Team…Team is becoming a real problem for the rest of the league. They own the longest win streak of any team right now as they racked up another one this week. A 112.42-98.22 victory makes it their 4th in a row and vaults them to 5-3 on the season and in 3rd place in the standings.

The return and continued domination from AJ Brown has really helped them. His 26.50 points led the way and was the highest total of the matchup.

Chris Mueller says, "Our prediction for the rest of our opponents this year? Pain."

Biggest Blowout: That belongs to The Fan Morning Squad over Amanda Cubed. Deebo Samuel, Jonathan Taylor and Elijah Mitchell all posted close to 20 points to cover up the down performances from Travis Kelce (2.70), DJ Moore (7.90) and even Kyler Murray (11.06) to win 112.16-80.78.

The win keeps the morning squad in a tie for first place in the league by record at 6-2, with the edge given to them based on total points scored this season.

Puttin’ Up The Points: The biggest scoring output of the week went to Dorin Dickerson and Cale Berger’s CBDD. Their opponent, The Marty Party, gave them a good shot by posting 111 points, but it was CBDD’s league-leading 124.76 total that won out.

Chris Godwin (24), Austin Ekeler (21.40) and even 16 points from their kicker Joey Slye led the way for them. They move to 5-3 and slid all the way up to 4th in the league.

League Low: It was the exact opposite kind of week for Josh Taylor, Shelby Cassesse and Greg Finley’s Sunday Grinders. They were projected to score 113.02 points and only mustered 78.10, the lowest total in the league.

DeVonta Smith, Noah Fant and Odell Beckham Jr. were all in the starting lineup and none of them scored more than 2 points. Ouch.
