The inaugural season of the Audacy Pittsburgh Fantasy Football League is over and the champion has been crowned. After an 11-3 regular season and a 121.52-97.90 victory in the championship game, The Fan Morning Show Squad of Colin Dunlap, Chris Mack and Producer Matt Koll are champions.

Let’s check out how we got here…

SEMIFINAL ROUND

#2 Kosher Nostra defeats #3 CBDD 123.86-91.08

CBDD was arguably the hottest team in the playoff field, but the heat dissipated in this matchup. They couldn’t overcome multiple single-digit performances from the likes of Saquon Barkley, Myles Gaskin, Hunter Henry and Keenan Allen. They were also missing their workhorse back in Austin Ekeler, who missed the game due to COVID.

On the other side, Kosher Nostra rode the 30.96 point performance from Josh Allen against division rival New England, along with Sony Michel’s 20 points against the Vikings. They got it done without Dalvin Cook in the lineup as well and even got a boost from the Eagles defense, who posted 16 points against the pitiful New York Giants.

#1 Fan Morning Squad defeats #5 Bishop Sycamore 118.90-116.82

The league’s top seed had to sweat this one out…and then some. The morning squad was missing two key contributors in Travis Kelce and Elijah Mitchell. Cole Kmet and Nyheim Hines had to do fill-in work, leaving them to start both Colts running backs against Arizona. Both were kept out of the endzone but they were bailed out by a big performance from Tee Higgins who racked up 37.40 points, by far his biggest output of the season.

Still though, it came down to Sunday night. Bishop Sycamore needed Ceedee Lamb to score at least 11 points against Washington to clinch the upset victory and a spot into the championship game. Of course, the Cowboys DOMINATED the Washington Football Team to the tune of a 56-14 final score. Lamb post 8.40 points in just the first half alone. But, the domination was too much. Lamb was kept out of the endzone in that first half and by the second half rolled around, Dallas began to rest its starters and Lamb never caught another pass. A crushing way to lose.

CHAMPIONSHIP

So, that set up a battle between the two top seeds in the league. Two teams that had finished the regular season 11-3. During the regular season, Kosher Nostra beat The Fan Morning Squad both times they played them, once in Week 3 and then again at the very end of the regular season slate in Week 14.

Elijah Mitchell returned to the morning show lineup for 20 points. Kyler Murray bounced back from a down week to score 22.92. But the real difference in the matchup came on Sunday night, where Kosher Nostra brought 3 heavy hitters into the game: AJ Dillon, Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook. Dillon did his part, scoring twice and putting up 21.30 points. But it was the Vikings star who didn’t show up in their time of need. Justin Jefferson was held in check just 58 yards on 6 catches (8.80 points) and Dalvin Cook was even more disappointing, with just 13 rushing yards and 2.80 points.
