PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – There have been rumors about Andy Toole when other jobs have opened, but Robert Morris’ all-time winningest coach is staying, 93.7 The Fan can confirm Toole agreed to a multi-year contract extension as first reported by CBS Sports Jon Rothstein.
Toole is coming off a third NCAA Tournament appearance in losing a tight game to Alabama who advanced to the Elite 8. He’s won 252 games in 15 seasons, a .510 winning percentage which is second only to Mike Rice who was the head coach for three seasons and hired Toole as an assistant coach.
The 44-year-old has six career 20-win seasons and is one of only a few active coaches to win conference tournaments in multiple leagues. While not in competition with teams in the major conferences, Toole and Robert Morris Athletic Director Chris King have been able to raise enough NIL money to put them up near the top of other Horizon League.
“I know both of us are very, very competitive,” Toole said during March Madness. “We want to be successful. We want to be on this stage of the NCAA Tournament. I think we've worked to help each other with what we've needed.”
