(670 The Score) The divorce between disgruntled receiver Chase Claypool and the Bears has been finalized.
Chicago has traded Claypool and a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Miami Dolphins for a sixth-round pick in 2025, the team announced Friday morning. The trade is pending a physical. The deal that allows the Bears to move up one round at the back of an NFL Draft two years away ends Claypool’s disastrous tenure in Chicago, where he found no success on the field and was upset with his role.
The Bears acquired Claypool from the Steelers last November by sending a second-round pick back to Pittsburgh. That pick ended up being the No. 32 overall selection in the NFL Draft this past April and was a pricey cost to pay for a player who ended up playing just 10 games for the Bears. In those games, Claypool had 18 catches for 191 yards while the Bears went 0-10.
Claypool essentially sealed his fate on Sept. 29, when he publicly shared his belief that the coaching staff wasn’t putting him in the best position to succeed. The Bears then made Claypool a healthy scratch in their loss to the Broncos last Sunday and told him to not attend the game at Soldier Field. They then instructed him to stay away from Halas Hall as well.
