
PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) With the MLB’s recent announcement of removing the 2021 MLB All Star-Game from Atlanta, there has been a strong push locally to bring the event to Pittsburgh and PNC Park.
PA Democratic Senator Jay Costa penned a letter to commissioner Rob Manfred inviting the MLB to chose Pittsburgh as the new All-Star Game location.
In the page long letter, which was cosigned by Chairman of the Sports and Exhibition Authority Senator Wayne D. Fontana, outlined the main points why Pittsburgh is the perfect city to host its sixth midsummer classic.
The primary reason for the league’s decision behind pulling the game from Atlanta fell on Georgia’s new laws that suppresses voters in the state.
The letter from Sen. Costa stated that he supports the MLB’s decision and pointed to Pennsylvania’s own new voting laws that made voting more accessible and easier to citizens across the state.
Also in the letter, Sen. Costa boasted about the amenities that would make Pittsburgh the perfect spot to host the events.
Stating that PNC Park is often ranked among the best ballparks in the country and how it draws fans for the experience.
Sen. Costa also discussed the cities mass amount of hotel rooms and space to hold the amount of people that travel for the game.
A statement of the city’s bright future was also written along with the history of baseball within the town.
