PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – For the first time in a decade, Duquesne basketball was picked in the top five of the Atlantic 10.
In the fourth season under head coach Keith Dambrot, the Dukes were picked fifth in the A-10 behind number one Richmond, St. Louis, Dayton and St. Bonaventure. For perspective, Duquesne was picked last in Dambrot's first season in Pittsburgh.
It's an experienced team with all five starters returning from a 21-9 season in 2019-20, that set a school record with 11 Atlantic 10 wins.
Senior Marcus Weathers (2nd team) and junior Sincere Carry (3rd team) are pre-season all-conference selections.
The 6'5" Weathers led the team in scoring with 14.3 ppg and rebounding at 8.1 rpg. Carry is now a third year starting point guard, averaging 5.5 career assists per game. Carry also averaged 12.2 points last season.
Duquesne opens its season, Sunday, November 29 in Louisville against UNC Greensboro.
