LISTEN: Post-Gazette's Mike White is retiring...sort of

On Tuesday, the “Dean of High School Sports” told Joe Starkey that he is retiring…kind of from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

White says he will still be writing for the Post-Gazette.

White has also become an integral part of our high school sports coverage on KDKA Radio, which we expect him to be a part of in 2025.

“It’s time,” White told Starkey. “I’ve thought about it for a few years. I think it’s time.
The Post-Gazette has been great to me for so long and I cherish them and we got a deal where I’m still going to be doing some things.”

White plans to spent his new extra time with his wife, kids and other family.

Being the go-to writer for high school sports for over four decades, White has covered the best of the best in the WPIAL.

So, who is on his Mt. Rushmore?

LaVar Arrington - North Hills

Terrelle Pryor – Jeannette

Susie McConnell-Serio – Seton La Salle

Swin Cash – McKeesport
