Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett wants reporters to put some respect on his name.
Or, more specifically, not use his name at all.
Garrett concluded his press conference with reporters at Thursday’s practice by telling members of the media to refer to him as “coach” when speaking with him.
“Good to see you guys,” Garrett said as he started to exit from behind the podium.
“Good to see you in person, Jason,” said a reporter off camera.
“We say, ‘Good to see you, Coach,’” Garrett responded as he walked out of view. “That’s how we do it.”
Not surprisingly, Garrett was promptly roasted on Twitter for his insistence.
The former Cowboys head coach was hired by New York in January of 2020, and the offense ranked second-worst in the league last season in yards per game, not the most impressive of debuts for Garrett, or, “Coach.”
