PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Free agent Andrew McCutchen is staying in the National League, more specifically the National League Central. MLB Network's Ken Rosenthal reports McCutchen will sign with the Brewers.
It may be hard to believe that McCutchen is now 35-years-old and it's been nearly five years since he played for the Pirates. McCutchen has more career homers and RBI against the Brewers than any other team in his career. The former Bucs first-round pick is a career .289 hitter at Miller Park with 23 home runs.
McCutchen played in 144 games with the Phillies last season hitting .222 with 27 home runs and 80 RBI. The former National League MVP hit 47 homers with a .237 average in three seasons with Philadelphia. He's still the best Pirates player since the 1990's with a career .291 average, 203 homers, 725 RBI and .379 on-base percentage in black-and-gold.
Part of the return for McCutchen when he was traded to the Giants is currently the Pirates best player and their All-Star centerfielder, Bryan Reynolds.
