Former Phillies and Cardinals star Scott Rolen joined elite company on Tuesday, becoming just the 18th third baseman in MLB history elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

But not everyone was so sure about Rolen's upcoming enshrinement in Cooperstown, N.Y.
Despite a shiny resume that includes a whopping eight Gold Glove Awards, seven All-Star appearances, a World Series title and a Rookie of the Year nod -- many fans and journalists on social media expressed their doubts about Rolen's election.
Most of their concerns seemed to focus on whether Rolen was ever among the best handful of players in any given season, and how much weight was being afforded to his elite glovework given his solid but unspectacular offensive numbers.
