NFL fans roasting league for slippery field conditions at Super Bowl

Eagles and Chiefs players are lucky they all brought extra pairs of cleats.

The field conditions in Arizona have players slipping and sliding all over the place at the Super Bowl, so much so that several players went to different footwear at halftime to try and find better footing for the second half.

It clearly didn’t help much, as players were falling to the ground throughout the Chiefs’ opening drive of the third quarter, including running back Isiah Pacheco, who slipped while celebrating his touchdown to pull Kanas City within a field goal of the Eagles.

The field’s surface had been prepared for the past two years, grown at a sod farm in Phoenix, and cost the league $800,000. But NFL fans made it clear that they thought it was a massive waste of money, and a health risk to the players.
