PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) Has any team in professional sports had worse injury luck than the Pittsburgh Penguins?
Five of the top nine forwards are currently being held out of the lineup with a multitude of injuries, but there could be some help soon.
Forward Jason Zucker, who has been out since Feb. 25, continues to progress ahead of schedule as he skated with the team Saturday morning.
Zucker skated with the team, but did not participate in line rushes and wore a non-contact jersey.
After the Saturday morning skate, head coach Mike Sullivan stated that forwards Teddy Blueger and Brandon Tanev have resumed skating with the taxi squad.
Sullivan also said that defenseman Mark Friedman also skated with the taxi squad.
While the team is inching closer to getting healthy skaters, another center was absent from the morning practice.
Mark Jankowski was absent Saturday morning, but Sullivan did not specify the reason.
Sullivan only said the team will have more information on Jankowski this afternoon.
As we await more information on Jankowski, it is reassuring that some important players like Zucker, Blueger, and Tanev are making good progress.
