PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed a 2019 Draft pick to a two-year entry-level contract.
It was announced by Penguins general manager Ron Hextall they agreed to an entry-level deal with 21-year-old forward Valtteri Puustinen.
Drafted in the 7th round in 2019 (203rd overall), Puustinen is 5-foot-9, 183-pounds and has been playing with HPK of Liiga, Finland's top professional league.
With HPK, Puustinen has recorded 21 goals and 20 assists for 41 points in 51 games.
In three seasons with HPK, he has put up 94 points (48G-46A) in 152 games.
HPK won the Liiga Championship in 2019 where Puustinen played with Niclas Almari, Emil Larmi, and Jesper Lindgren, all in the Penguins orginazation.
Puustinen is currently in Finland's World Junior camp where he is looking to win another gold medal with the national team that won the tournament in 2019.
His contract will begin during the 2021-22 campaign.
