CRANBERRY TWP (93.7 The Fan) – Just back for two games after suffering an upper-body injury on March 18, Brandon Tanev is week-to-week with a new injury. The injury happened in the Bruins game on Saturday.
Tanev played in 32 games scoring 7 goals with 9 assists and is a plus 12.
"He's got a great motor," Sullivan said recently of Tanev. "He creates a lot through his energy and physical play. His puck pursuit game. Usually his linemates are the benefactors of that. He's an ultra-competitive guy."
That likely opens the door for Frederick Gaudreau to remain with the team even as Teddy Blueger works his way back. Blueger went full in practice on Monday.
Goalie Tristan Jarry participated fully in practice, as the Pens head to New York and Tuesday's game with the Rangers.
"Back to 100%, I feel really good out there," Jarry said. "It was a good couple days of practice and being able to work with Buck and the coaching staff and get ahead on things. I think it will translate into my game."
Jarry said they were just being cautious and he agreed with the decision. He does feel like he's lost much missing the last week.
"I think I'm right there," Jarry said Monday. "I think working with the training staff and making sure I'm on top of things. I think it's a bit of a blessing that it happened now and we still have some games left in the season. Being able to stay on top of my conditioning and just get some good practices in with the team. That makes sure my conditioning stays where it needs to be."
Blueger nearly back
Blueger has been out since March 15th and says he's heading in the right direction. He says he feels 'pretty good' and glad to be back to full practices.
"Guys have been great, when I get back after missing some time it probably difficult to get in a rhythm right away," Blueger said. "We attempt to do that as soon as possible and help in any way I can."
