PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Hours after the Peach Bowl, a couple of veteran Panthers offensive players entered into the NCAA transfer portal.
Receiver Shocky Jacques-Louis said as training camp opened in August he hoped to use this season to springboard to the NFL. The Fort Myers, Florida native had a good start with 64 combined yards in the opener. Jacques-Louis had six catches for 66 yards against Duke, however five total catches over the last five games for 50 yards. He finished his Pitt career with 82 receptions for 1005 yards and three touchdowns. The 6', 190-pound receiver is a grad transfer and immediately available.
Running back Todd Sibley is also a grad transfer. The 5'10", 230-pound senior had only five carries this year (two against UMass and three vs. New Hampshire) for 19 yards. Sibley was a highly sought after recruit out of Akron, top 10 in Ohio history with 7,433 rushing yards. Sibley had his 2020 season cut short due to injury after rushing for 249 yards in 2019. Considering Israel Abanikanda is a sophomore and Rodney Hammond, Jr. a freshman, there weren't going to be a lot of opportunities for Sibley.
Marion Gone
Reported by several outlets including the Post-Gazette, Panthers first-year receivers coach Brennan Marion is leaving to become the new receivers coach and passing game coordinator at the University of Texas. A Greensburg native, Marion would replace Hickory High School grad Andre Coleman in that position.
Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said after the Peach Bowl Thursday he was unaware of the reports.
"I was focused on this football team and the guys that want to be with us," Narduzzi said. "When you have good coaches, people are going to come after them. Guys have decisions to make. Whatever he wants to do, I'm good. We will be fine."
