Former Pitt star Eric Mobley dies at 51

93.7 The Fan has learned that former Pitt star Eric Mobley has passed away.

The 6’11” center from New Rochelle, NY, played at Pitt from 1991-1994.

He played in 88 games, starting in 50 of those during his three seasons with the Panthers.

He averaged 10.2 points a game over his three years at Pitt, averaging 13.7 his final season. He scored a total of 370 in 1993-94, which led the team.

Mobley also led the team in field goals in 1992-93, making 117 of 216 attempts for a FG percentage of .542.

He led the team in blocked shots each year at Pitt.

Named to the All-Big East in 1993-94, Mobley was drafted in the first round of the 1994 NBA Draft (18th overall) by Milwaukee playing three seasons with the Bucks and then Vancouver Grizzlies.

Mobley reportedly died after a battle with lung cancer. He was 51.
