Now multiple times the Panthers stars have been picked as players of the week

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A pair of Panthers honored again for their play last week.

For the second time this season, Pitt senior basketball player Blake Hinson named the ACC Player of the Week, while freshman Bub Carrington picked as the ACC Rookie of the Week for a third time already this season.


Hinson broke a school record for make three-pointers in a game with nine at West Virginia on Wednesday. He averaged 27.5 points per game with six rebounds shooting 56% field goals, 63% from three and 100% free throws (7-7) last week. Hinson is the last Pitt player since Curtis Aiken to top the 25-point mark in three straight games. He is leading the ACC in scoring at 21.9 points per game with 5.1 rebounds.

Carrington now is the first Pitt player to ever win a conference Rookie of the Week designation three times in a season and that season is only six weeks old. The freshman from Baltimore averaged 16 points, four rebounds, seven assists and a steal per game in victories over WVU and Canisius. His 6.1 assists-per-game leads the ACC while also averaging 14.9 points and 5.1 rebounds. Carrington has scored in double-figures in nine of his 10 career games.
