PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pitt All-American quarterback Kenny Pickett has been traded a third time in the last 20 months. Reported by NFL.com, Pickett goes to the Las Vegas Raiders for a fifth-round pick.

Cleveland was in a situation where they had four quarterbacks still on the roster, Pickett, a pair of rookies, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel, and 40-year-old Joe Flacco, who was named the starter last week.

Pickett suffered a hamstring injury on July 26 and didn’t play in any preseason games and missed most of the Browns practices. The finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2021 is expected to be healthy and ready for the start of the NFL regular season. Instead of doing that in the AFC North, the Pitt record-holder will back up former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith in Las Vegas. Raiders backup Aiden O'Connell broke his wrist in the final preseason game and is out 6-8 weeks.

Now 27, Pickett was taken 20th overall by the Steelers in the 2022 NFL Draft. He played two seasons for the Steelers going 14-10 in 24 starts with a 62.6 completion percentage, 4,474 yards, 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions and a 78.8 quarterback rating. Last year he was Jalen Hurts backup in Philadelphia starting one game and being a part of a Super Bowl championship.

Pickett joins former Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds and linebacker Elandon Roberts with the Raiders.
