PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A pair of Pitt offensive stars are now finalists for a couple of major college football awards.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett is in the final group in consideration for the Maxwell Award and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award. Sophomore receiver Jordan Addison is a finaliss for the Biletnikoff Award.
The Maxwell Award goes to the best player in college football. Pickett is joined by Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker. Previous winners include Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Hugh Green and Tony Dorsett.
Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud and Young are the competition for the Davey O'Brien Award. A Pitt player has never won it. Dan Marino was a two-time finalist, but never won the award.
Larry Fitzgerald won the Biletnikoff Award and now Addison is up against Alabama's Jameson Williams, a junior, and Purdue junior David Bell attempting to become a second Panther to be named the best receiver in the nation.
