PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – There was late interest from Michigan State, but Pitt was able to land point guard Macari Moore from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Originally signing a letter of intent with Iowa State in November, Moore decommitted from the Cyclones Wednesday and signed with Pitt on Thursday.
The 6’3”, 200-pound Moore had scholarship offers from Louisville and a number of MAC teams. He’s the second-best point guard in Michigan (17th nationally according to 247 Sports) and averaged 19.5 points, six rebounds, 5.5 assists and was a finalist for Michigan’s Mr. Basketball this year.
“Macari is a tenacious competitor who showed winning traits throughout his high school and AAU career,” said Pitt head coach Jeff Capel. “He plays with an attacking style on both ends of the floor and has built a strong reputation around his work ethic. He is at his best as a downhill driver getting in the lane to make plays for himself or teammates and has also shown the ability knock down shots from the perimeter. He will fit in well with the backcourt we are building at Pitt, and we are excited to see how he continues to develop in our program.”
Moore is the eighth new player on the Pitt roster after last season.
