PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Where the program has come in a year, last March head coach Jeff Capel wondered if he would have a job. Now another piece of good news for the Pitt basketball team.

Senior Blake Hinson tested the waters of going into the NBA Draft, the school announced today that Hinson will return for a second season with the Panthers.

The Florida native led the Panthers in scoring, rebounds and three-pointers on a team that won a pair of games in the NCAA Tournament. His made threes (97) were third most for a season in Pitt history.

Hinson and Federiko Federiko are the lone starters returning after a 24-win 2022-23 season, but recently landed four-star, 6’10” forward Papa Kante, transfers Zack Austin and Ishmael Leggett, a top 25 recruiting class with a pair of guards and a forward. Plus, the return of forward William Jeffress (injury) and four-star guard Dior Johnson (suspension) and the Diaz Graham twins enter their sophomore seasons.

This team will get some extra time together as they will go on a foreign tour of Spain this summer starting on August 5.
