PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – An assistant director of basketball operations under Jeff Capel (2019-21) and former Panthers player, Matt Steinbrink of Pittsburgh.Rivals.com reports the Panthers will hire Ronald Ramon as a new assistant coach.
Last year Ramon was an assistant at Iona after four seasons at Fordham following leaving the Panthers. He was part of the Rams best season in more than 30 years, 25-8, 12-6 in the Atlantic 10 in 2022-23 advancing to the conference semifinals for the second time in school history.
Ramon is fourth all-time at Pitt history in made three-pointers (233), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.04) and seventh in three-point percentage (.395). He is also known for the three-point shot that beat West Virginia in a 2008 game at the Petersen Events Center. He also played 11 years as a professional in South America. Ramon also played with the Dominican Republic National Team from 2009-19.
