Former Penguins player and current radio analyst Phil Bourque criticized Boston Bruins play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards after the game for being quiet on the matter.

On Twitter, Bourque said:

Former Penguins Winger Matthew Barnaby said Edwards isn’t.

Several others agreed with Barnaby calling Edwards the biggest homer in all of sports broadcasting while others came to his defense.

Former Pens center Tyler Kennedy said Marchand’s actions were dirty, but that it’s part of his game.

Two-time Stanley Cup Champion Jay Caufield told Cook & Joe on Wednesday that the linesman should’ve let Kris Letang take care of business.

“I thought Letang immediately turned to go do something . . . Letang can play the game nasty, is tough, strong, he would’ve taken care of that issue right at that moment,” said Caufield.

Caufield adds that if it was a down-the-liner he would be suspended at least 20 games, a number that he believes Marchand should face, but because of his high profile, will likely serve only a handful.
