Sunday was Jaromir Jagr’s day.
His #68 was raised to the rafters at PPG Paints Arena, forever cementing his legacy as a Pittsburgh Penguin.
It was also a day for fans to be reminded why they fell in love with him in the first place, when he came to Pittsburgh as a young man in 1990.
During his speech, Jagr was thanking everyone in his life for helping him get where he is today.
That included his girlfriend, Dominika, who happens to be 29.
“She’s too young to remember I played in Pittsburgh,” Jagr said before being cutoff by large swell of laughter and cheers from the fans. “But I told her all the stories, so don’t worry about it,” Jagr added.
Born in 1995, Jagr was already a two-time Stanley Cup champion by the time Dominika was born and was about to start his sixth year in the NHL.
After that epic line, Jagr was in the Pittsburgh Sports Net booth when he forgot he need to watch his language.
Watching the game, Jagr dropped an F-bomb after seeing the Los Angeles Kings swarming around the Penguins net.
“Sorry, I’m more nervous then when I play,” said Jagr.
One of the all-time great Penguins is also one of the most colorful.
