Former teammate of Sidney Crosby, Tyler Kennedy, says for the first time, he thinks a trade that sends the Penguins legend to another team is possible.
Crosby’s agent, Pat Brisson, recently told The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun didn’t outright dismiss a possible trade, like he has done in the past.
Kennedy tells The Pomp & Joe Show, “I think it could happen.”
He believes it could be a couple things.
“I think he’s getting the Penguins to do something,” said Kennedy. “I think either one, his agent . . . is hearing they’re trying to get rid of (Rickard) Rakell and (Bryan) Rust and trying to completely rebuild.”
If they get rid of those two players, his agent is thinking who is going to play with Crosby?
“I think he’s looking out for his client and surrounding him with players,” Kennedy said of Brisson.
If the Penguins do drop all of their talent, the most logical result would be to start trading away pieces.
The Montreal Canadiens have been linked to Crosby, and it’s speculated they would give up a ton to get him.
Ultimately, Kennedy doesn’t think the Penguins should trade Crosby and that Pittsburgh means too much to Sid,
But, he adds it eats at a player like Crosby to not be in meaningful games and there’s a good chance there the Penguins won’t be in any this coming season.
