PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Friday that they had recalled goaltender Alex D’Orio from the AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
It was on an “emergency basis,” said General Manager Ron Hextall.
So far in the 2021 campaign, D’Orio has split his time between the Penguins taxi squad, the WBS Penguins, and the Wheeling Nailers.
During his time with the WBS Penguins, D’Orio posted a 5-3-1 record, and to date, has 2.3 goals-against-average and a .911 save percentage.
For the Nailers, D’Orio has played in 11 games and logged one shutout.
The goaltender has spent most of his career with Wheeling, in fact.
He’s tallied 42 games with the Nailers.
Pittsburgh makes the roster move in anticipation of the regular season closer Saturday afternoon against the Buffalo Sabres.
The puck drops at PPG Paints Arena at 3 p.m.
