Penguins sign former Bruins defenseman Grzelcyk

They've also signed D Mac Hollowell

According to a report, the Penguins have signed a defenseman in free agency.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportnet says former Boston Bruins player Matt Grzelcyk has signed a one-year deal worth $2.75 million.

The 30-year-old was taken by Boston in the third-round of the 2012 NHL Draft.

He played in 63 games for the Bruins last season with two goals and nine assists. He was a +13 with an average ice time of 17:36.

Grzelcyk is a down the liner defenseman who has had some success in the past, but in recent years has fallen down the Boston depth chart. He was in the lineup only one time in the Bruins last 11 playoffs games.

Grading the move early, it’s not a bad one, it’s not a good one…It’s just a move.

The Penguins also announced they've signed defenseman Mac Hollowell.
