
PITTSBURGH (93.7 the Fan) With the recent announcement from the CDC that fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to wear a mask in certain situations and environments, many companies have begun relaxing their mask mandate.
On Friday, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced that full vaccinated individuals will not need to wear a mask within PNC Park.
Shortly after the Pirates announcement, the Pittsburgh Penguins made a statement that said they will continue to enforce a mask mandate at PPG Paints Arena.
The team cited that it is the National Hockey League’s ruling to keep the mask rule.
The Penguins stated that they are encouraged by the CDC update and signaling a large step forward to a return to normalcy.
It is encouraged that individuals continue to wear their masks within PPG Paints arena following the NHL’s decision.
Earlier on Friday, Penguins CEO David Morehouse stated that he and the organization hope to open PPG Paints Arena to 100% capacity by Game 5 of the first round of the NHL Playoffs.
The playoffs start on Sunday afternoon for the Penguins.
