The Pirates made a few announcements ahead of Wednesday’s rubber match against the Cincinnati Reds.
Infielder Alika Williams’ rehabilitation assignment has ended and the team has optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Williams was placed on the injured list on June 2 (retroactive to May 30) with a wrist sprain.
His rehab assignment was also with the Indians.
The 25-year-old has appeared in 23 games for the Pirates this season. He’s hitting .210 with two RBI and an OPS of .525.
Williams was traded to the Pirates from Tampa Bay in June 2023 in exchange for RHP pitcher Robert Stephenson.
