The Pirates are calling up Ji Hwan Bae from Triple-A before they begin a homestand at PNC Park. That's according to 93.7 The Fan's Dan Zangrilli and other sources.
As for the corresponding move, that’s not known yet, but it doesn’t appear that it will be Rowdy Tellez.
The Post-Gazette’s Jason Mackey told The Fan Morning Show earlier on Tuesday that he thought the Pirates would “make a move” with Tellez, but later tweeted that a source tells him the Pirates are not moving on from Tellez, “at least not now.”
Right-handed pitcher Ryder Ryan has been optioned to Triple-A
The 24-year-old, Korean-born Bae is batting .376 in Indianapolis this season and an OPS of 1.048, four home runs and 16 RBI.
The 29-year-old, California native Tellez is batting .181 this season with home run and an OPS of .483.
The Pirates begin a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants at PNC Park Tuesday evening.
The Pirates are coming off a 4-3 road trip against the Brewers and Cubs.
The Giants are 23-25 and currently in in third place.
