Bucs claim LHP off waivers from Mets

Anthony Banda has a 7.36 ERA in five games for New York this season

The Pirates have claimed a left handed pitcher off of waivers from the New York Mets.

Anthony Banda originally began this season in the San Francisco Giants organization pitcher for their Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento. He was then dealt to the Mets in exchange for infielder Will Toffey in early July.

The nearly 28-year-old Banda have made five relief appearances since, winning his first game on July 19 against Cincinnati.

In those five game, Banda is 1-0 with a 7.36 ERA striking out seven over 7.1 innings with New York.

He was designated for assignment on July 31.

Selected in the 10th round of the 2021 MLB Draft by the Brewers and was then traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014. He made his MLB debut for Arizona in 2017.
