The Pirates made some roster moves ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals at PNC Park.
The Pirates have announced they’ve selected the contract of right-handed reliever Chris Devenski from Triple-A and have optioned LHP Hunter Barco to Indianapolis.
Devenski has a 1.13 ERA over eight innings pitched, giving up one earned run, striking out 14 and a .143 batting average against over five appearances and one start this season.]
The 35-year-old veteran has a 3.91 ERA over his 10-year career in the MLB.
Devenski will wear #57.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Pirates designated RHP Ryan Harbert for assignment.
Hunter Barco was recalled from Indy on Tuesday and arrived just in time to throw 4.2 innings for the Bucs in their loss to the Cardinals. He gave up five earned runs in the Pirates 11-7 loss.
Also, the right-handed pitcher Jared Jones, recovering from Tommy John surgery, will begin a rehab assignment on Wednesday night in Low-A Bradenton.
