PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A couple of games into his AAA career, catcher Henry Davis tells the PM Team on 93.7 The Fan that he is ready for the major leagues.

"I feel ready," Davis said to Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller. "(Now) Do everything I can every day to prove that without a shadow of a doubt."

As of Friday, the 23-year-old had three hits in his first 10 at bats with Indianapolis including a RBI triple. Davis called up after hitting .284 with a .433 on-base percentage in 41 games with AA Altoona. He was one of the league leaders with 10 homers and 27 RBI walking 32 times.

Davis is as focused during interviews as he is on the field. He explained he's simply not worried about timelines or things out of his control. The former Louisville star is trying to do his job, be the best teammate he can be and work to get better. That includes with the plan right now with he and Endy Rodriguez both at AAA and both top Pirates prospects. Davis says he finds out who catches the night before and when not behind the plate is getting with coaches and outfielders about learning right field.

"It's been good," Davis told the PM Team on 93.7 The Fan of learning a new position. "Trying to get to be the best outfielder I can be as fast as possible. If that's a way I can help the team win in Pittsburgh, I want to do it to the best of my ability."

A New York native, Davis said he learned from his parents about staying focused and putting your head down and working hard. It's something that was drilled home early as his father was a US rugby player and his mother a collegiate swimmer.

"Commit to my approach, trust the process and try and have team at bats," Davis said if his mindset. "Whether that's moving a guy over, getting a guy in or two-outs and nobody on trying to score myself. However I can help."

Right now, he helps by getting better at AAA. He'll keep working until the 2021 first overall pick helps the Pirates.
