
The father of Pirates owner and chairman Bob Nutting has died.
George Ogden Nutting was 87-years-old.
The Wheeling, West Virginia native died on Friday.
He was born in Washington D.C. on October 21, 1935.
His obituary appeared in “The Intelligencer, Wheeling News-Register” which is owned by Ogden Newspapers.
G. Ogden was the third-generation owner. Bob Nutting is the current CEO.
Ogden Newspapers has 54 daily newspapers across the country.
According to his obituary, Nutting going the Pirates partnership group in 1996 with then-owner Kevin McClatchy, to help keep the team in Pittsburgh.
He also worked with McClatchy to help the design and opening of PNC Park.
