The Pirates continue to make changes to their bullpen.
The team announced Friday that left-handed pitcher Hunter Barco is going back to Triple-A Indianapolis after going three innings in Cincinnati Thursday evening.
He gave up two runs on five hits against the Reds, with three walks during the relief outing.
Antwone Kelly from Triple-A has been recalled to take Barco’s spot on the roster.
Kelly has appeared in 19 games with 13 starts in Indianapolis this season. He’s gone 5-5 with an ERA of 4.29 over 77.2 innings pitched.
He hasn’t allowed a run in 15 innings over his last three outings, including one start, with the Indians in July.
With Barco pitching in an extended relief role Thursday, he won’t be available for several days.
The move gives the Pirates an opportunity to bring an available arm.
