Milene Mazeroski, wife of Hall of Fame 2nd baseman dies

The wife of former Pirates second baseman Bill Mazeroski died Sunday morning.

Milene Mazeroski met Bill while she was working in the Pirates front office. She was 85.

Born in Braddock, Milene and Bill were married for 64 years, had two sons and four grandchildren.

They lived in Greensburg before moving to Eastern PA in 2019 to be closer to their family.

In a statement, Pirates owner Bob Nutting said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of Milene’s passing. A devoted wife and loving mother, she was and will forever be a part of our Pirates family. It is with heavy hearts that we send our condolences to Bill, Darren, David and the entire Mazeroski family.”

The Hall of Fame infielder played his entire career in Pittsburgh and hit the walk-off home run in the 1960 World Series to beat the New York Yankees in Game 7.

A funeral mass will be held later this week in Hatfield, PA.
