The Pirates have placed centerfielder Oneil Cruz on the seven-day Injured last after an apparent injury in Tuesday night’s 14-0 loss to the Brewers in Milwaukee.
Cruz’s head was seen colliding with left fielder Jack Suwinski after a play in the fourth inning.
The Pirates have called up outfielder Ronny Simon from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Cruz’s spot on the roaster.
The 25-year-old Simon was claimed off waivers from the Marlins in early June has hit .291 for the Indians with seven home runs, seven doubles and a triple.
He also has 30 RBI, 35 runs scored, 32 walks and 24 stolen bases over 52 games with Indy.
He’s started in left and right fight for Indianapolis.
Simon will wear #63 and start in right field in the finale against the Brewers Wednesday afternoon.
