"El Toro" is back in the big leagues. The Milwaukee Brewers have announced Pedro Alvarez as the team's assistant of baseball operations and player development.

In six seasons with the Pirates, Alvarez batted .236 with 131 home runs 401 RBI and had an OPS of .750. He also struck out 809 times.

Alvarez's best season with Pittsburgh was in 2013 when he was named an All-Star and received a Silver Slugger award.

Alvarez began to struggle on the field at both third base and first, after transitioning there in 2015.

After being non-tendered by the Pirates at the end of the 2015 season, Alvarez signed a contract with the Orioles where his offensive struggles continued.

He was designated for assignment in June of 2017 by Baltimore and signed a minor league deal with the Miami Marlins in 2018 but opted out of the contract before the season.

In addition to Alvarez, Milwaukee also hired former Brewer Ricki Weeks as a player development assistant.
